Tips
for Affiliate Beginners
Text is better than banner
If there's one piece of
advice that everyone agrees with, it's that text links will always
attract more interest than banners and buttons. That's not to say
images don't have a place, but you can nearly always improve image ads
by adding or replacing with text.
Advertise in context
Never randomly place adverts on a page. Always try to place adverts
that are relevant to the content on the page. A page about gardening
should have adverts on it that would interest someone interested in
gardening.
Hide affiliate links
The average browser may not be super intelligent when it comes to
the internet, but you'd be surprised how many can spot an affiliate
link at a glance! Knowing you are being paid for something will make
them doubt your reasoning for putting the adverts on the site to begin
with. Hide your links either by using meta redirects, or by using
status bar text.
Add this site to favourites
Anyone can do this easily enough, but you can increase the number of
people book marking your site considerably just by adding a 'add this
site to favourites' link. You can easily find the code for this by
doing a web search.
Tell-a-friend
If someone finds your site useful, the chances are they know a
friend that would also. Many sites take in excess of 10% of their new
members using this method. Free tell-a-friend scripts are easily
found. |
